What is Carprofen?
Carprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in veterinary medicine, most commonly for dogs. It helps reduce pain, inflammation, and fever.
It works by inhibiting COX enzymes which are involved in producing inflammatory chemicals in the body.

What forms are available?
Carprofen are available in several forms usually tablets or injectables.
Tablets typically ranging from 20mg-100mg.
What side effects are there?
Most dogs tolerate carprofen well, but side effects can occur. Contact your veterinarian if you notice any of the following:

• Diarrhea

When should this medication be used very carefully?
Carprofen should be used with caution in pets that:
• Have pre-existing kidney, liver, or gastrointestinal disease
• Are elderly or dehydrated
• Are receiving long-term NSAID therapy OR steroids
• Are on other medications that affect the kidneys or liver
Your veterinarian may recommend lower doses, shorter courses, or additional monitoring in these cases.
What monitoring is required for pets on carprofen?
For short-term use, monitoring may be minimal. For long-term or ongoing treatment, your veterinarian may recommend:
• Baseline blood tests
